Alcohol is one of those problems that has the veneer of social acceptability... until it doesn't anymore. When you realise that it's not doing you any favours anymore, when you realise that it's time to change your habits. That's when it might be a good idea to talk to me. Whether you are a social drinker who finds themselves reaching for that bottle a little more often than you are comfortable with or it's a more serious problem. You might find that changing those habits is a lot easier than you thought originally.
Sugar addiction is one of the most common issues that I am approached for. People often have difficulty passing up sweet treats and that play havoc with their sports, energy levels, teeth and wallet. Changing those attitudes to a preference for healthier tastes and flavours is often just a matter of sitting down and relaxing for a short session with me.
Smoking deserves a special mention here. No one actually likes smoking! I'm just going to put that out there.... If you smoke you may like the initial release of tension you get from that first puff in the morning but let's face it, the taste is nasty, the hit to the bank balance is a worry and the health implications are scary. So why do we continue to smoke? The reasons are: It is physically addictive, it takes a few days for the nicotine to work it's way out of your system and while it's there you can't help but want to smoke. It's also a repetitive action, you have to take regular breaks to have a ciggy and you have a little ritual , be it rolling your own or lighting it up. Repetitive rituals are also known as habits. It's the default that your body has learnt to do even when you aren't thinking about it. You may have cycled a few times between the "I'm not addicted, I can give up any time I want" stage and the "I just like to smoke okay...Why can't you just leave me alone?" You may even have been in the "I can give up, I didn't smoke all last summer" stage of denial.
My Quit Smoking Programme is a proven winner. The focus is on identifying the smoking parts, changing habits and bringing about permanent change. This takes place over a two week period and in that time, we can allow the mind and body to process and introduce new habits, thus preparing for the new way of doing things and behaving.
This programme is designed to bring about permanent change for you. Many people find that they have already saved money by the second week.
If you truly want to give up smoking then there is honestly no better way.
There are of course other addictions. Repetitive behaviours that we don't like about ourselves. These can range from sex addiction to using dangerous drugs and substances. My approach is to identify whatever it is that's holding you back, help you to find a new and healthier behaviour that suits you and then help you transition over while making it easy to do so. Basically, I help you to become the person that you want to be.
