I am Capital Hypnosis
My name is Daniel and I have been working as a hypnotherapist ever since I discovered a knack for it practicing self hypnosis in order to deal with my own chronic insomnia. I attribute part of my success to a long history storytelling and writing as well as working with children as a gymnastics, swimming and sports teacher. I worked to get a diploma in advanced hypnotherapy from Hypnosis New Zealand and have, since then, been solving issues for people with all sorts of problems. Originally I started working alongside my mother who is a well known hypnotherapist in Marlborough but now I work independently from Wellington under the name Capital Hypnosis.
How can hypnosis solve real world problems?
Well it's not just a party trick or a weird stage show oddity. Hypnotherapists use hypnosis very effectively to beat all sorts of issues and I often say to my clients that if it's connected to the mind I can probably help. If you are interested I have written this as a quick overview of what's involved and a little insight into how it all works.
Hypnosis has been around for centuries in one form or another but it's only recently that it has gained traction as a legitimate therapy. If you look back far enough you can find echos of modern hypnosis in shamanic traditions, prayer, advertising and training camps throughout the ages. It turns out that the way we think and learn means we have a few peculiarities that can be used to good effect by hypnotists. There is nothing particularly psychic or spiritual about this process. It's a function of the way we think. When I make a suggestion that you agree with you create a new neural pathway and weakening or erasing an old bad habit. It's important to understand that, unless you want it, this new habit, this new pathway will be temporary. If you want it though, the new behavior is reinforced every time it's followed until it becomes permanent. In this way it is possible for people to abandon old bad habits and behaviors and become the person they would like to be.
That's all fine in the abstract but what does it mean? It means that when you see a hypnotherapist like myself you can pick something about yourself that you genuinely wish you could change. Maybe a fear, maybe a bad coping mechanism, a stress response, bad diet, anxiety or an addiction. We work together to describe the person you would like to become, I then induce you into a light trance and set up the new habit. Because this is what you want anyway it becomes very easy to accomplish. It has nothing to do with willpower, In fact the big limitation is usually creativity and intelligence. The less intelligent, the less able you are to imagine the change, the harder our job is.
